If there's one movie that fits the holiday season, it's Home Alone. This week marks the 30th anniversary of the film, and it continues to be widely watched during the holiday season. The American film is about a large family who go on holiday to France, but accidentally forget one of the children at home. Eight-year-old Kevin is having the time of his life now that he's finally home alone. Relaxing quietly at home is unfortunately not an option, when he gets his hands full chasing two burglars.
Another real Christmas classic that everyone should really see is 'How the Gringe Stole Christmas' from 2000. The film is almost twenty-two years old, but still a real classic. Starring Jim Carrey as The Grinch, he tries to ruin Christmas for the village of WhoVille. The film is highly recommended for the whole family.
For the couples we have also selected a nice movie, namely; The Holiday. This Hollywood movie comes from 2006 and stars well-known movie stars such as Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet and Jack Zwart. The film is about two women who turn their lives around via a website by participating in a home exchange. Both women eventually begin to realize how happy they should be with what they have, and of course they both find someone to fall in love with. A fun movie for the couples among our readers!
The book A Christmas Carol, which came out in 1843, has been made into numerous films, including the 3D animated film from 2009. A Christmas Carol is about an old and bitter man, Ebenezer Scrooge, who hates Christmas. His life revolves around getting money, and nothing else. However, his outlook on life changes when three ghosts visit him on Christmas Eve. All three ghosts give the grumpy old man an important message. Thus the first ghost shows him his most painful events from the past, the second ghost teaches him to dwell on his statements and the last ghost shows him what people think about him when he is gone. This terrifying night causes the man to change his life, returning him to the gentle man he once was.
